New initiative by Croatian MEP: New cooperation among EU islands for more protection against climate change
The Croatian vice-chairman of the European Parliament in charge of the islands, together with two other members of Parliament started the initiative for more protection of EU islands against climate change and for a higher security of supply. As a starting point the Euopean Energy Island Forum was founded with the tasks of monitoring, networking, exchange of experience and transfer of knowledge. The main problems of the EU islands are the limited availability of resources and services, isolation, high dependence on few economic activities and limited internal markets
