Construction of new wind farm in the north of Poland
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is co-financing the construction and operation of a wind farm in northern Poland with a total capacity of 39 MW. Construction should be finalized by the end of 2015.
The new wind farm will help to reduce Poland's dependence on coal and lignite for power generation, to reduce CO2 emissions and to meet the renewable energy targets agreed with the EU.
Among the obstacle for renewable energy are the regulatory uncertainty and a lack of of finance for renewable energy projects. The EBRD is supporting efforts to overcome these challenges and has become a leading investor in wind farms in Poland.
