Montenegro unveils €1.4 billion priority energy projects

Montenegro has approved a list of 15 priority energy projects worth €1.38 billion to modernise its energy infrastructure and advance its EU accession process.

Key initiatives include the €210 million Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline (IAP) segment to connect regional gas networks, the €315 million Komarnica hydropower plant and the €163 million electricity interconnection between Italy, Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia. Other notable projects, such as the €160 million Krusevo hydropower plant, underline the country's focus on renewable energy. These projects will be assessed for potential EU funding under the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) between 2024 and 2027, underlining Montenegro's efforts to strengthen regional energy integration and sustainability.
