Europe boosts winter power exports to Ukraine and Moldova

European Transmission System Operators (TSOs) are enhancing electricity export capacities to support Ukraine and Moldova during the challenging winter months, as both countries face electricity shortages caused by damaged infrastructure.

The export limit will increase by 400 megawatts (MW), bringing the total to 2,100 MW. This measure is expected to improve energy security and help both nations manage their electricity demands during the winter. The TSOs will continue to monitor the situation and plan monthly reassessments of commercial capacity starting in March 2025, ensuring the electricity system's stability and addressing evolving needs. This initiative highlights Europe's commitment to aiding its neighboring countries amid ongoing energy challenges.
