EU and Member States, including Lithuania, boost development of renewable hydrogen
A total of more than €2 billion will be mobilised, combining €1.2 billion from EU funds with more than €700 million from national budgets. Spain, Lithuania and Austria are committing significant national resources to this effort, with contributions ranging from €36 million to €400 million per country. The initiative will support renewable hydrogen projects that drive industrial decarbonisation and clean energy deployment across Europe. The scheme offers dual funding opportunities to companies, reducing costs and increasing competitiveness in the hydrogen sector. This collaboration is in line with key EU policies such as the REPowerEU plan and the Green Deal Industrial Plan, and reinforces the EU's commitment to achieving renewable hydrogen targets and a sustainable energy future.
