Moldova launches first renewable energy auction

The first renewable energy tender for the construction of solar and wind projects with a capacity of up to 165 MW has been officially launched by the Moldovan Ministry of Energy.

The aim of the auction is the procurement of 60 MW of solar power and 105 MW of wind power. The Republic of Moldova aims to procure 60 MW of solar power in its first renewable energy auction. Investors will receive fixed price guarantees for the generated electricity for a period of 15 years. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2025. The Ministry of Energy expects Moldova's share of electricity generation from renewable sources to increase from 10% at the end of 2023 to 16.6% once the power plants from the auction are in operation. The country is aiming to increase the share of renewable energy to 30 percent by 2030.
