Hydropower project in Bulgaria and Romania was included in the CB RES list
A joint project of Bulgaria's NEK and Romania's Hidroelectrica - the Turnu Măgurele - Nikopol hydropower plant on the Danube - has been included in the European Union's Connecting Europe Facility for Energy (CEF Energy) as one of the eight projects on the CB RES list. The project, which has been on hold since the 1960s, was revived in 2022. The 840 MW hydropower plant is expected to generate 4.4 TWh per year, which will be shared equally between Bulgaria and Romania. This project represents a significant step forward in cross-border cooperation in the field of renewable energy.
