Moldova launches its first auction for 165 MW of wind and PV projects

Moldova is launching its first auction for the construction of wind and photovoltaic parks with a total capacity of 165 MW, aiming to attract investments of around €190 million.

This initiative is expected to increase the share of renewable energy from 10% to 16.6%, contributing to the target of 27% by 2030. Winners will receive a guaranteed fixed price for 15 years, capped at 1.5 lei/kWh for wind and 1.67 lei/kWh for solar. The auction will allocate 105 MW for wind and 60 MW for solar, with applications starting in September 2024. Moldova's current installed renewable capacity is 306.58MW, with an additional 317.3MW expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2024.
