Ukraine adopts national energy and climate change plan as EU accession negotiations begin

On 25 June, Ukraine adopted the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) for the period up to 2030.

The NECP is the basis for Ukraine's environmental, energy and economic policies for sustainable development. Ukraine has developed the NECP in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2018/1999 and has adopted the procedure for EU Member States. These efforts are in line with Ukraine's obligations as a Contracting Party to the Energy Community and support the country's ambition to join the EU. The Ukrainian government prepared the NECP within one year and it was approved on the same day that negotiations for accession to the European Union started.
