OMV Petrom builds a plant for the production of sustainable fuels in Romania

OMV Petrom, the largest energy producer in Southeast Europe, will invest around EUR 750 million in Petrobrazi to become the first major producer of sustainable fuels in the region.

The investment will be used for the construction of an SAF/HVO plant and two green hydrogen plants.The investment for the SAF/HVO plant will be EUR 560 million. The plant will have a production capacity of 250 kt/year for SAF and HVO as well as for by-products such as bio-naphtha and bio-LPG. The plant will enable the product mix to be adjusted to market demand and the available raw material mix. The plant will have an annual consumption of approx. 11 kt of hydrogen and the investment for the green hydrogen plants is estimated at around EUR 190 million. The two plants are estimated to have a total capacity of 55 MW, whereby the total annual production of green hydrogen is around 8 kt.
