The US invests $85 million (€78.6 million) in Moldova´s large-scale battery energy storage system

The US investment in BESS in Moldova is part of a broader financing package to improve Moldova's energy resilience.

The investment is part of a $300 million assistance package from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to address energy challenges resulting from war and Ukraine's devastated energy grid. The installation of the equipment will help strengthen the national energy grid and facilitate electricity trade with Romania, Ukraine and the European market. The battery storage will help manage energy reserves and balance fluctuations in energy demand while integrating renewable energy.
