Hungary decides to fund 440 MW of storage

The Hungarian government has provided 62 billion forints (169 million dollars) for energy storage projects. Around 50 grid-connected energy storage projects with a total capacity of 440 MW were to be subsidized as part of the tender.

The tender is part of a broader subsidy programme to support households and businesses in the generation and storage of green energy.  The projects are expected to be operational by the end of April 2026.  Within two years, the aim is to increase the country's energy storage capacity by more than 20 times.  The grants are being provided as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and from the national budget.
