Estonia plans to quadruple use of green fuels by 2030
The European Union has agreed to double the agreed target for the introduction of biofuels by 2030. Currently, 7.5% of the fuel consumed at Estonian petrol stations comes from renewable energy sources. According to the existing Renewable Energy Directive, the share of renewable energy in fuels sold in Estonia should reach 14% by 2030 and 29% under the new version. According to fuel sellers, the government does not currently favour the use of biofuels. The tax on green diesel is just as high as that on fossil fuels.
