Albania awards 222 MW of capacity in its first onshore wind tender
Three bidders have been awarded a total capacity of 222 MW. The successful bidders are Total Eren with a bid of €44.88/MWh for a capacity of 75 MW; Guris with a bid of €74/MWh for 74.88 MW; and Verbund with a bid of €74.95/MWh for 72.6 MW. The auction was first launched in 2021 under the supervision of Albania’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy. Since 2020, Albania has awarded 240 MW of solar energy, and another 300 MW of solar power is expected to be awarded in the coming months. As of end-2021, Albania did not yet have any wind power capacities, and had only 26 MW of solar capacity. 92% of the country’s installed capacity is covered by hydropower (2.4 GW).
