The new power interconnection between Greece and Bulgaria, with a capacity of 1.5 GW, has been completed
Transmission companies IPTO and ESO EAD have commissioned the new ultra-high voltage 400 kV electrical link between Greece and Bulgaria. The new line significantly increases energy exchange possibilities between the two countries and improves energy security in Southeast Europe and the Balkan Peninsula. The total length of the international link is 151 km, of which about 30 km is within the Greek territory. The construction of the new line is a project of European interest, included in ENTSO-E's Ten-Year Development Program (TYNDP) and in the European Union's list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI).
