Tests have been conducted on four battery storage projects in Lithuania.
Tests have been conducted on four battery storage projects in Lithuania, provided by system integrator Fluence, totalling 200 MW/200 MWh. The projects are expected to be commissioned in spring 2023 and will allow the Lithuanian power grid to run in island mode and synchronize with the EU grid. The projects are being developed by EPSO-G through a special purpose company called Energy Cells. The four battery storage projects will cost a total of €109 million ($116 million) and will be 80% funded by the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility program. Fluence won the contract to design, manufacture and connect the battery storage projects to the transmission system and provide maintenance services for 15 years. The four systems consist of 78 Fluence Cubes, the company's modular energy storage system product, and follow a smaller pilot project with a capacity of 1 MW provided by Fluence in 2021.
