Energy Community published Energy Transition Tracker
The Energy Community published the Energy Transition Tracker, which assesses how the low-carbon energy transition is progressing in the Western Balkans and addresses the challenges of making the energy transition cost-efficient and socially acceptable.
The Tracker emphasises that despite the number of positive developments and regulatory instruments, political pledges, are yet to be translated into concrete actions. For instance, CO2 emissions from electricity and heat production rose by 1% from 2018 to 2019.
The chapter dedicated to climate tracks the establishment of a comprehensive climate legal framework, including embedding a 2050 decarbonisation roadmap into national law and the status of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the UNFCCC framework.
